Bushmen of Namibia - Michael Evans

Again in my Sociology class we made a connection to religion and ecology. We are presently studying various cultures and their social development and what not, and the Bushmen of Namibia are the most recent culture. While I read about the Bushmen they reminded me of the way that Fetishers thought we should live. The Bushmen live in the deserts of Namibia where they use relatively little technology and remain a hunter/gatherer society. They use poisoned arrows and bows along with spears and bows to hunt animals and they also gather naturally growing plants and vegetables that they can eat. The do not drive cars, typically, and do not have televisions and telephones. While they can get to the city in order to use some of these devices, they generally stay in their temporary shelters until they move around. They are semi-nomadic and will move to where food supply is abundant. They are one of the closest peoples to Eden in so much as they still live off nature and use little technology to survive.
