Religion and Society and how the times have Changed - Seth Stout
In early English times Christianity played a role in what was deemed decent in the realm of beautification. One of these means of beautifying one self is by the use of make-up. This was looked down upon because it was thought that make-up would bring about lust. Another means of beautification was the wearing of wigs. This was looked down upon because when you were blessed the blessing went to the original owner of the hair, not to the one being blessed. It is interesting that Christianity played a role in what was considered acceptable back then, but now it is the complete opposite.
